January 2011 - Luxury Oceanfront NYC
The King bed was very comfortable we could hardly wake up in the mornings, but when we finally opened our eyes we had a sensational ocean view from our room. Is there a better way to wake up! We also greatly enjoyed having the roof terrace, which we utilized mostly in the evening before we went for dinner. It offered the most wonderful sunsets and views of the ocean. The dining in the resort was a pleasure with a great mixture of cuisine available. We didn't take the meal plan, but might consider it if we came back again. This is simply a magical resort that you should try.

January 2011 - Junior Suite Oceanfront New York
The first thing I will mention is that this resort is one of the best we have visited in the world, not just the Caribbean. From arrival to departure we were taken care off as we were the only people on property. We even had the pleasure of meeting the GM, Gary who is a wonderful and charismatic person who gave us some great suggestions for dinner which I will mentioned shortly. The check-in process was painless, and we were soon in our beautiful room. Now I have to mention that this is not the most luxurious property we have visited but that is not what it is trying to be. It is the welcoming and serene. Our room had a large balcony area where we requested to have our morning breakfast each day. This is done at no additional cost and we welcomed starting to day to ourselves rather than with a group of other guests as you would at most properties. In the morning we would head down to the beach where we were allocated our own beach loungers...no reserving, waiting, stressing...it was ours for our entire stay! I have to say, this is what makes this resort. The beach service is phenomenal! We had the same server everyday as well and he was very patient and resourceful. He brought us complimentary snacks and drinks throughout the day, cold wet towels almost hourly and we even were offered ipods to use while there which we didn't need to do because we had our own, but it's these little extras that really made Cap Juluca stand apart from other places we have visited. We ate at Pimms a couple nights which was amazing. Dishes were cooked to perfection and the wine list was one of the best my husband had seen. We then went with Gary's suggestions and tried Veya. It is only a few minutes away by taxi and in a beautiful setting on a second story building. Amazing! One of the best dinners we've had. Started - Vietnamese style crispy calamari - the best! & Fish soup with coconut, ginger, red pepper rouille - what an amazing blend of flavors! Our mains were Seared Moroccan spiced NY strip with tomato red onion jam and pumpkin coucous (my husband was most impressed) and I had the grilled Jerk spiced Tuna, rum coffee glaze, caramelized pineapple and fried plantains. Just wonderful;! We had to tell the chef that this was one of the most fabulous dinners we have experienced. It turns out the chef is Carrie, one of the owners and her husband runs things in the front end. I would highly recommend for anyone visiting Anguilla to come to Veya. We also tried Jacala one night (also Gary's recommendation). Again is was amazing! I don't know how this tiny island can squeeze so many wonderful restaurants in. Our meal consisted of conch chowder flavored with fennel and crispy puff pastry sticks, marinated tuna tartar with wakame, olive oil and ginger to start and for mains, grilled crayfish with lemon and garlic butter sauce - so simple yet full of flavor and my husband again with the meat had the black angus sirloin steak with crushed black pepper sauce. A wonderful experience where we again wanted to thank the chef who turns out to be one of the owners as well. We also tried Oliver's restaurant which was very romantic and again had great food. Our entire stay went from great to amazing. If there was one thing to mention that wasn't truly amazing but still a nice experience was the beachfront BBQ at Blue. It had a nice atmosphere but lacked in freshness of the food. BBQ's tend to be like that so we had no complaints but as you can read it did not dampen our stay one bit. We would love to visit other resorts in Anguilla but booked one more trip this fall to Cap Juluca.
